DYAD

DYAD is a multi-faceted project that explores the relationship between sexuality, violence and power developed in collaboration with co-curator Therese Steele.

Funded by Arts Council England and the European Cultural Foundation, the work premiered at the Freud museum for Frieze 2013, and was exhibited at Arts Admin and Richard Saltoun Gallery London as well as Istanbul Turkey and Athens Greece.

Dyad was Initially conceived in Istanbul, Turkey, during the outbreak of the city’s large-scale socio-political unrest of Spring 2013:

The external conflict becomes internal when the inevitable and unavoidable question arises of where an individual should place oneself within a collective movement. In this sense DYAD strives to become an active site for social and political activism as well as the physical domain for the production of the relation between subject and object, observer and observed, individual and collective.
